I literally overcame self esteem issues by making ironically over-arrogant claims because even if you’re joking about something a lot you start to believe it and that can totally work in a good way if you let it

They’ve done studies and the “fake it till you make it” mindset actually works and if you keep up a mantra you come to believe it after a time. It actually is how I came to really love myself.

The premise of minimum wage, when it was introduced, was that a single wage earner should be able to own a home and support a family. That was what it was based on; a full time job, any job, should be able to accomplish this.

The fact people scoff at this idea if presented nowadays, as though the people that ring up your groceries or hand you your burgers don’t deserve the luxury of a home and a family, is disgusting.

i’ve been doing research about jobs/companies that are accepting of trans and the like since i’m going job hunting again next month, and i found this list, which lists trans-friendly businesses. it links to this page, a directory for employers.

tagging so people can see it, i figured this might come in handy for some people!

"I used to love Mulan when I was younger. Now that I’m older all I can think about is how the only reason she was able to accomplish anything was because she dressed as a man. I don’t really think that makes her a good role model, when there are so many women in history who accomplished equally as impressive things, just as women"

Umm…yeah no.

Mulan had to dress as a man because her father had about a 99% chance of dying if he went to war, and she would literally be killed if it was discovered that she, a woman, had taken his place.

The clothes Mulan war did not give her some sort of man superpowers. They just kept her from being found out and executed. If you look at the movie again, I think you’ll find that three of Mulan’s biggest victories (retrieving the arrow, creating the avalanche and defeating Shan Yu) were made possible by her intelligence and ability to think outside of the box. These were not traits that came with “being a man,” but ones she had all along.

And in the end, even though she’d been found out, everyone respected her because she kicked ass and saved all of China using her own abilities. I don’t see how the message of “do what you know is right even when no one thinks you can” is setting a bad example just because she wore a disguise. This literally makes no sense.

Rihanna destroyed CBS’ attitude towards domestic abuse in 2 tweets

Rihanna is not happy with CBS’s decision to cancel her performance before last week’s Thursday Night Football game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens.

Sensing that an appearance by the singer — who was the victim of a highly publicized domestic abuse incident herself — might bring them some bad press in the wake of the Ray Rice domestic abuse scandal, the network decided to scrap her show. Rihanna wasn’t pleased

"The audacity" is right.
